ASAB UDDIN LASKAR

(1933-1996)

Asab Uddin Laskar was born on 1st January, 1933 to a Muslim middle class family at Bagpur Pt- III, Silchar, the only town then in the Barak Valley in the State of Assam. Young Asab Uddin was a very meritorious student. Completing his matriculation from Govt Boys School Silchar he joined Normal School and completed three years course successfully. In 1960, he joined M.H.C.H School Sonabarighat as an Asstt. Teacher, and dedicated his life in teaching. He led a very simple and easy life. He also gave his valuable time for the development of the society. He involved himself with the Indian Redcross society for fulfilling the need of the society. In 1962, he completed physical Training course from Karimganj Training Camp. In 1969, he then achieved the title of Physical Education teacher from the Central Training Institution Sariska Alwar in Rajasthan. After retirement from the job of teaching, he did not spend time sitting idle at home. He gave his valuable time for the development of society and religious work too. The holy man finally breath his last on 13th May,1996 at his own house located at Bagpur, Cahar, Assam. His contribution towards Education and society impressedus so greatly that we set up a society in his memory namely 'Asab Uddin Memorial Society' to carry out his dreams of spreading quality education to those who cannot afford expensive Education. The Society established a School namely 'Radiant Model School' which is a Co-educational English Medium School in 2009 at Sonai Road(Nagatilla), Silchar. The school is affiliated to Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA). The society, is not only working in the field of education but also working for the downtrodden people. There are 10% reserve quotas for fee education to those who are meritorious and needy. The Society is providing various skill developments training to the youth to establish themselves in their respective trades. It also extends its hands to those poor students who come out successfully in the entrance examination or unable to collect the fees for admission in medical or Engineering colleges. The Society is also providing free hostel facilities. The Society is planning to ply an Ambulance for the local people in their need and also set up a drinking water plant in M.H.C. H.S School campus for the students. At last, it is our humble request to all the well wishers of the society to come forward and join us to carry out the dreams of Alhaz Asab Uddin Laskar successful.
